We commonly look at interviews as a grueling test of our abilities, where the company puts us through difficult questions to gauge our fit in their company.
Interviews are actually two-way conversations. They are also excellent opportunities for you to get to know the company better.
In fact, there are some questions that you, as a candidate, should be asking to put yourself in a more favourable position.
In this article, we share 3 such questions that we thought were awesome from outstanding candidates.
Do remember to raise at the end of your next interview!
1. If I was hired, what do you expect me to achieve?
It shows your keenness in the job and desire to perform well. It also shows that you are devising an action plan and is ready to jump right into your role. Give the hiring managers an impression that you are excited about the job!
2. What is the working environment and culture like?
This question tells the Hiring Manager that you value working environment. To you, it is an important factor for success. Does the company adopt a more top-down approach or does it value collaboration across the hierarchy? Do they value efficiency or allow for greater flexibility? By asking this question, it sends a signal to the interviewer that you can picture yourself working in the company.
3. What skills should i possess to be successful at this job?
This question will offer you a deeper understanding of the personality traits that are suitable for the role, as well as, the expectations of the hiring manager. From there, you can assess how well you might fit the role.
Final Thoughts
An additional bonus tip is, if this is your first job interview, you should avoid talking about salary, benefits and bonuses. Talking about finance-related issues makes you appear more like a mercenary. There will be a time and place to discuss salary after you have been accepted for the position.
So at your next interview, when the interviewee asks “So do you have any questions for us?”, instead of blanking out, try to have these questions at the back of your mind!
